What is an environmentally friendly library? How does sustainability affect every aspect of modern daily life? How strong is our environmental awareness, both on an individual and collective level?

The Sustainable Neighbors team, led by Maria Aplada, Librarian (B.Sc), and Sofia Papageorgiou, Environmental Scientist (M.Sc), invites you to explore their work and actions surrounding Sustainable Libraries, as well as to share useful tips and ideas for protecting the environment.

The event is structured in three parts:

• Information on sustainability
• Description of green libraries
• Presentation of the "Survey on the Awareness and Training of Librarians on Sustainability Issues" and evaluation of the results

A discussion, dialogue, and exchange of views will follow.

The discussion will be moderated by Iphigenia Georgakopoulou, Head of the General Collection in the Reading Room department. The event is organized by the Goethe-Institut Athens as part of the program "Common Waste - Common Libraries," of which the Sustainable Neighbors group is a part.

A few words about the discussion coordinator:

Iphigenia Georgakopoulou is a librarian with a master's degree in "Information Science - Information Services in the Digital Environment" from the Department of Archives, Library Science, and Museology at the Ionian University. Since 2016, she has been working as the Head of the General Collection at the National Library of Greece, in the Reading Room department.

Τι είναι μια φιλική προς το περιβάλλον βιβλιοθήκη; Πως η βιωσιμότητα επηρεάζει κάθε πτυχή της σύγχρονης καθημερινότητας; Πόσο ισχυρή είναι η περιβαλλοντική συνείδηση μας τόσο σε ατομικό όσο και σε συλλογικό επίπεδο;

Η ομάδα Sustainable Neighbors, με εισηγήτριες τη Μαρία Απλαδά, Βιβλιοθηκονόμο (B.Sc), και τη Σοφία Παπαγεωργίου, Περιβαλλοντολόγο (M.Sc), σας προσκαλεί να γνωρίσετε τη δράση και το έργο της γύρω από τις Βιώσιμες Βιβλιοθήκες και να μοιραστεί μαζί σας χρήσιμες συμβουλές και ιδέες για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος.

Η εκδήλωση διαρθρώνεται σε τρία μέρη:
- ενημέρωση για την βιωσιμότητα
- περιγραφή των πράσινων βιβλιοθηκών
- παρουσίαση της «Έρευνας Επίγνωσης και Κατάρτισης των βιβλιοθηκονόμων σε θέματα βιωσιμότητας» καθώς και η αξιολόγηση των αποτελεσμάτων.

Θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση, διάλογος, ανταλλαγή απόψεων.Ο συντονισμός της συζήτησης θα γίνει από την Ιφιγένεια Γεωργακοπούλου, Υπεύθυνη γενικής συλλογής τμήμα αναγνωστηρίου. Η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιείται από το Goethe- Institut Athen στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος Common Waste - Common Libraries μέρος του οποίου αποτελεί η ομάδα Sustainable Neighbors.

Λίγα λόγια για την συντονίστρια.
Η Ιφιγένεια Γεωργακοπούλου είναι βιβλιοθηκονόμος με μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο σπουδών στην κατεύθυνση «Επιστήμη της Πληροφορίας - Υπηρεσίες Πληροφορίας στο Ψηφιακό Περιβάλλον» από το Τμήμα Αρχειονομίας, Βιβλιοθηκονομίας και Μουσειολογίας του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου. Από το 2016 εργάζεται ως Υπεύθυνη Γενικής Συλλογής στην Εθνική Βιβλιοθήκη της Ελλάδος, στο τμήμα Αναγνωστηρίων.
